Established in 2014, the Altercore brand is the result of experience and passion for durable, comfortable and visually distinctive footwear. The idea to produce high-quality glans in Poland finds its genesis in the 1980s, when the brand’s creator, as a teenager, observed the style of sturdy shoes used by heavy industry workers in the Gdansk shipyard, which in the then People’s Republic of Poland, hidden behind the Iron Curtain, were the only available option for young people who wanted to stand out from their peers.

The road from idea to realisation found its outlet in the following decade. The robust, domestically produced glans, still under the Heavy Duty emblem, quickly conquered the hearts and shoe cupboards of people who liked an alternative style of dress or belonged to all kinds of subcultures. The brand’s craftsmanship, its attachment to the city of Gdańsk and musical rebellion are extremely important to its creators, which is why stands with the characteristic logo can be found at various festivals, and the backdrop for photo shoots has often been the towering shipyard production halls and cranes.

In the 20s of the 21st century, Altercore still conscientiously pursues the idea that every person should be able to express themselves through style, without compromising on quality. For this reason, a large proportion of the company’s current and upcoming products are 100 per cent vegan footwear made from certified synthetic material.
